:locked_with_key: MPIN & Login Policy for Angel One

MPIN as Your Password

In the Angel One app, your 4-digit MPIN serves as your login password. It is required to access your account and place trades securely.

  2. Enter your registered mobile number, PAN, and Date of Birth.
  3. Enter the OTP sent to your mobile.
  4. Create a new MPIN and confirm it.

:locked: No need to enter the old MPIN. Just rememberโ€”you still canโ€™t reuse any of the last 5 MPINs.

:locked_with_key: 2-Factor Authentication (2FA) for Login

The latest version of the Angel One app uses 2-Factor Authentication (2FA) for enhanced security. As per regulations, login must involve two distinct types of verification:

  1. Knowledge factor โ€“ Something you know (e.g., MPIN)
  2. Possession factor โ€“ Something you have (e.g., OTP or authenticator app)
  3. Biometric factor โ€“ Something you are (e.g., fingerprint, Face ID)

:warning: A combination from two different categories is required. For example, Face ID + fingerprint (both biometric) is not valid.

:receipt: Login Flow

Hereโ€™s how you log in with 2FA:

  1. Enter your Client ID.
  2. An OTP is sent to your registered mobile number and email.
  3. Enter the OTP manually or use auto-fill from your messages.
  4. Set your MPIN (first-time setup only).
  5. Once MPIN is set, future logins can be done using just the MPIN.
  6. Optionally, enable biometric login (e.g., Face ID) for added convenience.

:hourglass_not_done: To reduce friction, OTPs are valid for 7 days. You wonโ€™t need to enter an OTP again during that period for subsequent logins.
