MPIN & Login Policy for Angel One
MPIN as Your Password
In the Angel One app, your 4-digit MPIN serves as your login password. It is required to access your account and place trades securely.
How to Change Your MPIN
Changing your MPIN is simple:
- Go to the Account section of the app.
- Tap on Settings > Change PIN.
- Enter the OTP sent to your registered mobile number.
- Set a new 4-digit MPIN and confirm it.
You cannot reuse any of your last 5 MPINs when setting a new one.
Forgot Your MPIN?
If youโve forgotten your MPIN, follow these steps:
- Tap on โForgot MPIN?โ on the login screen.
- Enter your registered mobile number, PAN, and Date of Birth.
- Enter the OTP sent to your mobile.
- Create a new MPIN and confirm it.
No need to enter the old MPIN. Just rememberโyou still canโt reuse any of the last 5 MPINs.
2-Factor Authentication (2FA) for Login
The latest version of the Angel One app uses 2-Factor Authentication (2FA) for enhanced security. As per regulations, login must involve two distinct types of verification:
- Knowledge factor โ Something you know (e.g., MPIN)
- Possession factor โ Something you have (e.g., OTP or authenticator app)
- Biometric factor โ Something you are (e.g., fingerprint, Face ID)
A combination from two different categories is required. For example, Face ID + fingerprint (both biometric) is not valid.
Login Flow
Hereโs how you log in with 2FA:
- Enter your Client ID.
- An OTP is sent to your registered mobile number and email.
- Enter the OTP manually or use auto-fill from your messages.
- Set your MPIN (first-time setup only).
- Once MPIN is set, future logins can be done using just the MPIN.
- Optionally, enable biometric login (e.g., Face ID) for added convenience.
To reduce friction, OTPs are valid for 7 days. You wonโt need to enter an OTP again during that period for subsequent logins.
