Shri Goyal Highlights Impressive Growth in Exports and Shared Cultural Ties
India has witnessed a remarkable surge in its exports to Nordic countries in recent years, according to Shri Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, and Textiles. Addressing the 2nd CII India Nordic-Baltic Business Conclave 2023, Shri Goyal emphasized the impressive growth of over 39% in India’s exports to the Nordic region from 2018-19 to 2022-23. Finland and Norway experienced a surge of over 100% and 80%, respectively.

Intriguingly, the Nordic-Baltic region has become a close ally to India, embracing Indian Cuisine, Bollywood, Yoga, Ayurveda, and Textiles with immense popularity. The Minister highlighted the vast potential for cooperation in various sectors, including Pharmacy, Food Processing, Renewable Energy, IT, AI, Supply Chain, and Logistics. Nordic-Baltic nations, with their prowess in innovation, green tech, AI, and blockchain-led transformation, present significant opportunities for collaboration with India, which has made substantial strides in these areas.
Invitations to Trade Fairs in India
During his address, Shri Goyal extended an invitation to Nordic-Baltic companies to participate in upcoming trade fairs in India. BharatTex, scheduled from February 26 to 29, will host over 3,500 exhibitors from nearly 40 countries. Additionally, the Bharat Mobility Show, from February 1 to 3, will showcase an Auto Fair and feature electrical components as a key highlight.
