How to Open an Angel One Account
Opening a demat and trading account with Angel One takes just a few minutes. Follow these simple steps to get started:
Step 1: Download the Angel One App
Get the app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
You can also complete your KYC via the web or through a referral link.
Step 2: Sign Up and Register
- Open the app and tap SIGNUP to begin.
- Enter your mobile number. This number will be used for all future communications and must not be registered with any other Angel One account.
- If you’re signing up via a referral, you can enter an optional referral code here. If you’ve come through a referral link, the code will auto-fill—you can also edit it.
- Tap NEXT to receive an OTP on your number.
- Enter the OTP to verify your number.
- Now, select or manually enter your email ID.
- If you enter your email manually, you’ll receive another OTP to verify it. This OTP is valid for 30 minutes.
Step 3: Complete Your KYC
This is a mandatory step. Your KYC journey depends on whether your Aadhaar is linked to PAN and mobile number.
Depending on how your Aadhaar is linked, your KYC flow will vary:

If Aadhaar is linked to PAN and mobile:
- Enter your PAN number and father’s name, then tap SUBMIT.
- Provide consent to allow Digilocker to fetch your details.
- Enter your Aadhaar number and solve the CAPTCHA.
- Input the OTP sent to your registered mobile number (valid for 10 minutes).
- Enter your 6-digit Digilocker PIN. If forgotten, reset it using your date of birth.
- Click Allow to share your documents.
Once complete, your PAN and Aadhaar data will be submitted automatically.
If manual upload is required:
You will be asked to upload your documents if:
- Aadhaar number is entered incorrectly
- Mobile number isn’t linked to Aadhaar
- You deny permission to access Digilocker
Uploading PAN:
- Tap Click a picture to take a photo of your PAN card.
- Or tap Upload a file to submit a scanned image.
Only .jpg, .jpeg, or .png files are accepted. Max size: 5MB.
Uploading Aadhaar:
- Upload front and back images of your Aadhaar card.
- You can click pictures or upload them from your phone gallery.
- If images are unclear, you can manually enter Aadhaar details.
File format and size: .jpg, .jpeg, .png, max 5MB each.
Step 4: Add Your Bank Account
- Enter your bank account number and confirm it.
- Type your IFSC code, or choose from the dropdown list that appears.
- Tap SUBMIT. Angel One will deposit ₹1 to verify your account.
If your bank details are incorrect:
- Re-enter a valid account number, or
- Upload a cancelled cheque (image must be within 5MB, in .jpg/.jpeg/.png format).
Step 5: Take a Selfie
Click your selfie within the frame using the in-app camera.
Step 6: Upload Your Signature
Choose from 3 options:
- Draw your signature directly on the screen within the dotted box.
- Click a picture of your signature on plain white paper and upload it.
- Upload an existing file from your device.
File format: .jpg, .jpeg, .png, size up to 5MB.
Also, confirm that:
- You are a resident of India.
- You are not a politically exposed person.
Step 7: Activate Derivatives (Optional)
Once your signature is submitted, you’ll be directed to the Derivatives Activation page.

Option 1: Automatic fetch via CAMSFinserv
- Enter the OTP sent to your bank-registered mobile number.
- Select the bank account (must be at least 6 months old).
- Tap Link Account(s) to proceed.
This account can be different from the one linked with Angel One.
Option 2: Manual document upload (if bank is not supported)
Upload any one of the following:
- 6-month Bank Statement
- Passbook (6 months)
- Income Tax Return
- Form 16
- Latest Salary Slip
- Demat Holdings Statement
Accepted formats: .pdf, .jpg, .jpeg, .png (max 10MB).
For password-protected files, enter the password when prompted.
Step 8: Add Personal Details + Preferences
- Select your income category and employment type.
- Choose to activate MTF (Margin Trading Facility).
- Opt in for WhatsApp notifications.
- Enable DDPI (Demat Debit and Pledge Instruction) for seamless trading.
- Pick your gender, marital status, and settlement cycle (monthly or quarterly).
Step 9: Add a Nominee (Optional)
You can add up to 3 nominees to your demat account.
For each nominee, fill in:
- Name
- PAN
- Date of Birth
- Relationship
- Percentage share (must add up to 100% across all nominees)
Tap Add Nominee to start. You can add more nominees before proceeding to e-sign.
You can also add or update nominees later via the Angel One web app.
Step 10: E-Sign & Submit
If you have a Digilocker:
- You’ll be redirected to the NSDL e-Sign page.
- Enter your Aadhaar or Virtual ID.
- Tap Send OTP and authenticate.
If you don’t have a Digilocker, a customer care executive will call you to complete your KYC. All required details will be collected during this call to open your account.
After completing the e-sign, your KYC is done. You’ll be redirected to the Thank You screen, where you can rate the onboarding process on a scale of 1 to 10. Your account will be activated within 3 working days. You can start exploring the app while your account is being processed.
